Young Adults
This is one the most dynamic times in your life! There is just so much change going on:
You’re more independent, which comes with pressure to make choices.
You may be dealing with others’ expectations about your choices.
Your social circle may be shifting, which comes with possible loneliness but also room
for new connections.
And then there is your brain. The last part to mature is the prefrontal cortex, responsible for future planning, emotion regulation, reasoning, understanding consequences, and impulse control.
So, it’s a lot of new adventures and a brain with still-growing guardrails. That just means you will have to work harder to make thoughtful decisions and curb the risk-taking while your brain grows.
You’ll get A LOT of practice at life and that whole Adulting Situation. You’ll make mistakes.
With all this going on, I can help be a grounding force.

I have worked with young adults since 2004, when I started graduate school at the University of Denver. From 2007 - 2009 I worked at the counseling center at the University of Oregon, providing individual and group therapy.
From 2009 - 2023, I worked at Seattle University’s Counseling and Psychological Services, where I provided individual and group therapy to Seattle University students. I facilitated groups on body image and eating concerns, anxiety, and post-graduation concerns. I met with students individually on pretty much every concern you can imagine over the course of my time there. Many of these topics I’ve listed on this page and elsewhere on my website.

I love working with young adults because it’s a big time of finding your own way. And that’s hard and scary and awesome all at the same time. You’re brave and bold even if you don’t feel it or see yourself that way. Your persistence is inspiring.
